According to one of the forefathers of hatha yoga, Allama Prabudheva, 'The appearance of this body is nothing but layers of frozen shadows of sound (waves or consciousness).' Sundernath / S.Remete
From the outside towards the inside, from the gross to the subtle, from the physical to the resonant. Shadow yoga introduces a progressive approach to yoga practice built upon the ancient principles of hatha yoga. The practice focuses on cultivation and awakening of the inner intelligence and understanding of which (yoga) elements to use when, how much and in which order to adjust oneself to the daily changes and challenges of life. This guides the person in developing the so-called free-style manner of practice.
If practiced correctly, yoga ensures our health, a strong physique and a stable mind. If practiced incorrectly, it can cause damage to joints and organs, as well as mental instability.

about me

I am Mojra Vogelnik Škerlj, originally Slovene, since 2010 based in The Netherlands, last year between the two countries. Although an architect by degree I have been for the past 12 years active as a dancer and performance maker in the international field of contemporary dance and performing arts. The last seven years have been marked with transition to motherhood with birthing of two boys. In this time I have been gratefully studying physical evolution of a newborn to a toddler through many one posture and movement touched upon in the yoga practice in a reversed order.
Hatha yoga practice has been a part of my life for over 25 years, for a long time primarily self-taught. I owe my gratitude to Nicolet Montanus, who in 2014 introduced me to Shadow yoga. After I in 2015 began studying in London Islington yoga, under the wakeful and sound presence of Karen Watson, a deeper intuitive understanding started to emerge. Since 2018 I study also directly from Shandor Remete and Emma Balnaves, the founders and directors of Shadow yoga, which I continue to this day. In 2019 I have been given the trust to start sharing the basics of the knowledge I've received so far.
